I want to make RAID that duplicates all my data using 2 M2 devices, so if one of them fails I would be able to continue using PC without any problems whatsoever, just replace a failed drive and good to go. But I've heard that this may not be that easy and fool-proof. Is there any problems that I don't know about?

I want to use 1 TB Crucial SSDs and AsRock B850 Pro RS for that.

You would need hardware RAID for that, via motherboard support or an HBA/RAID card, and it may cause issues with your OS -- Windows from what I recall doesn't like booting from a RAID array.

There are some hoops to jump through to get Windows booting from RAID, it may not be worth the headache. Definitely not an easy or fool-proof task.

RAID 1 sounds like what you want, where all the data is mirrored between 2 drives.

RAID 5 is capable of rebuilding an array in the event of drive failure(if a drive fails, just replace it and you can get the data back on it), but that requires significantly more drives.

If this is just a regular system, a better solution is probably to just have a single SSD and make regular backups of your data. RAID is not a backup.

With how reliable SSDs are these days, and how desktops are generally not mission critical, I'd focus on backups instead of RAID if possible.

Do you have a install already done on the system? Normally you need a reinstall and can't switch to RAID. Have you looked at the AMD RAID guide for your board?

I use both Windows and Linux on different drives, and I want RAID backup mainly for Linux data, Windows can live without it xD. Why RAID isn't a backup though?

Why? It duplicates data on physically different drives. Sounds like backup to me...

RAID 1  (Duplication)... is a failsafe measure for DATA loss. A backup, would be saving a file(s) to an external source... external drive, Network Attached Storage, Storage Server... heck a Blu Ray Disc. Also, good practice is to keep another copy off site in case of disaster. RAID is a disc array, not a backup. Currently I save important files to my external drive, as a copy of my internal 12 TB RAID 5 Array inside my computer.... until I finish building my Network Attached Storage device...

I am sure others could explain RAID Arrays vs. an actual copy of the file saved externally to the pc better than I could...
