steam files question

would i be able to just copy and past all of the steam files from one drive to another or would i have to re install everything to that drive? 

Specs

CPU: i5 4670k i won the silicon lottery Cooler: Corsair H100i w/ 2x Corsair SP120 quiet editions Mobo: ASUS Z97 SABERTOOTH MARK 1 Ram: Corsair Platnums 16gb (4x4gb) Storage: Samsun 840 evo 256gb and random hard drives GPU: EVGA acx 2.0 gtx 980 PSU: Corsair RM 850w Case: Fractal Arc Midi R2 windowed

I think that you should just be able to do that however you may have to change something so that steam knows where to look for the game when you launch it through steam.

you can move them to another drive and change that folder to your steam game folder so yeah it works fine

it's possible, but you have to tell steam where the games are and often they aren't recognized(the location) by steam and it will want you to download them

One option is to add a new SteamLibrary folder on your new drive. Then copy the game folders you want to move from the old drive to X:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common. Uninstall (delete local content whatever) the games you have copied to the new drive from steam. Reinstall the games to the SteamLibrary on the new drive. Steam will not need to download the files again but just checks that everything is there.

you can just backup the game. It's safer and more surer that way
