No specific games. Helldivers 2 is one which performs sub 50fps on high with me so something of that fidelity.

I can imagine the 2600X performing like poo. My 2700X did, when using a 1080ti in 1440p.

Get a 5700X3D.

Get a cheap ram kit 2x16gb 3200mhz or 3600mhz (CL16).

Remember to update BIOS before inserting the new CPU. If you are running stock cooler, you might wanna get a new cooler. this one is the best price to performance.

I'm wanting to upgrade my computer so I can play modern releases at 1440p/144hz.

Budget: around £500~ £/GBP

Country: UK

Used for: Gaming on 1440p 144hz, single monitor setup.

Other details

Will be waiting for the new AMD GPU this January before buying anything.

I'm also considering if a 5700x3d is worth to upgrade the CPU.

Current:

- MSI x470 Gaming Plus

- Ryzen 2600x

- Nvidia 2070 super

- DDR4 2x4Gb & 2x8Gb both 3000mhz

- Corsair 550w PSU

I've had a lot of mixed opinions ranging from just get a new GPU to match the ram up and upgrade the CPU and only then upgrade the GPU.

My first thoughts are just to get a new GPU and then upgrade CPU if anything is lacking.

Thank you kindly for doing the research for the part list.

I will likely pickup the CPU and recommended cooler.

However can you or someone else explain why a new RAM kit?

Would this be replacing all the ram entirely? I have 2 slots free if so. I recall seeing an LTT video years ago that mismatched RAM was negligible?

Get the same ram as your 2x8,kit.  4x8 is perfectly sound on am4, the 5700x3d.

What I mean to ask is: Why change my ram?

If 24GB is working perfectly fine, then it's plenty IMO.   I had thought you wanted to get to 32GB, sorry.
