Left CTRL key is stuck

Go to solution Solved by Jaxob09,

Well I feel stupid. I looked under my keyboard and found a magnet from my wrist rest that fell off beneath the ctrl key. I don't know why exactly but I took that off and now the ctrl key works fine.

I recently have had a problem of my left CTRL key being always pressed down no matter what on my keyboard. I tried pulling out USB, trying a different USB port, uninstalling drivers, updating drivers, restarting computer, the only thing I have not tried yet is a new keyboard. It only comes back on for a second when I have the virtual keyboard on. Sometimes when I go virtual keyboard it looks like both CTRL keys are being pressed down. Also the key light does not go off when I press it. Could it just be a hardware issue?

If I had that issue I would assume it's time for a new keyboard. Verify it's not some weird piece of software doing it. Boot into safe mode and check. If that clears up the issue it's software related. Also you can connect the keyboard to another device that would register Ctrl and check that way. It's in the keyboard not the connection if it is hardware.

I'm guessing you pulled the cap and switch and reseated but it still doesn't function.

If all else fails and at your own risk you could try the Armageddon approach and offer it some persuasion. GL

the mechanical switches they use are magnetic, so a magnet under it would do it. yes😅
