Cpu power cable question.

My motherboard supports an 8 pin and a 4 pin for cpu power, I bought some cable extensions and it came with only one cable for the cpu. Will there be any difference in performance with only one 8 pin cable instead of an 8 pin and a 4 pin??

What CPU are you using?   Usually no   I have never used more than a single 8 pin CPU power cable. Its rated for a continous 226w of power.

I have a ryzen 7 7700x

Oh then a single 8pin CPU power cable is plenty enough.

The 7700x maxes out at 120w with PBO enabled so you have 100w left of power from that cable

 

I only use a single 8pin with my own 7700x.

 

You could in theory run two 7700x of one cable.

Cable extensions are trash. What's the brand and model of your PSU? If it's modular you better get replacements cables.
