So I went to plug in my pc, I had the monitor plugged in to the extension cord and my PC was in the other separate extension cord on a different power outlet. When I went to connect the HDMI cable to my GPU ( Radeon RX 580 8gb ) I noticed there were really really small blue-ish / white sparks on the tip of the HDMI cable, you could barely see them. They didn't leave any mark on the back of the gpu nor the I/O shield. Can this be dangerous for the GPU, if so how can I fix this, really don't want to mess up something since the PC is bought recently.

Thanks.

Is your computer on a desk or hard surface or does it sit on carpet? Sounds like static build up.

Yeah I will, but just want to clarify that if it ever happens in the future again I can rest assured that my gpu won't like get destroyed overtime

The best way to prevent static shocks is to discharge before plugging the devices together. Like touching the outer part of the HDMI connector with one hand and the metal case of your computer with the other hand.

Also, if there is a difference of potential between your monitor and PC, there is probably a problem with the grounding of the power outlets.
