Im having trouble deciding between 2 Gigabyte Windforce R9 290s or an EVGA GTX 780 Ti Superclocked ACX. The price varies between the two quite a bit; The R9 290s cost $800 and the 780 Ti costs $680. I've provided a poll up above to gauge respones easier, but if you could explain your choice I would appreciate that as well. Thanks in advance!

The r9 290s are much faster if you are willing to spend the extra 120 bucks or so (although someone linked  sale from newegg which would actually make the 290s cheaper... yum yum :D). As for the issues with crossfire, most games which require high end solutions support crossfire just fine. Overall I would prefer the 290s (in fact I got one this week and I plan on adding the second when it's a bit cheaper).

BUT, this is only if you have a 4k monitor, if you have a 1080p one the second card is wasted money and you could do extremely well with one. Even if you are running 1440p crossfire 290s are overkill imo (although that doesn't make the 780ti a better option, I'd just go for a single 290 or a 290x). No amd fanboyism by the way, I'm just giving my opinion on the current gpu lineup.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Make sure there's a gap between the two 290s, the Windforce one runs slightly hotter than its competitors. If the Tri-X is cheaper or around the same price then get that one, it runs significantly cooler and quieter :)

EDIT: I voted for the two 290s on the basis that it's more powerful, but it's unlikely you need that power. Unless you're desperate to spend money or are running something really demanding a more appropriate question might be two 280x's vs 780ti, which is closer in performance, and the AMD cards are cheaper in that case too.

Im gonna be full honest with you, getting crossfire to work properly its a pain in the back and that dosent do justice to how difficult it is, sometimes people are really really lucky and get it working kinda easy, but comming from experience i totally recomend get 1 super poweful GPU
