USB Station. Help!

Hey guys, 

   I building a pc into a desk soon and I want to run a USB hub/ station from the motherboard onto my desk for connectivity. It can run from a SATA port, a usb 3 port or t a thunderbolt port, I was wondering what you guys thought about which one would be the best to use for this?

   I know that belkin has a thunderbolt usb station that is pretty great, but it's also pretty expensive.... any Ideas guys?
