For the longest time, there was a very annoying battery bug in BOINC on Android, which involved setting a minimum of xx % battery level, before BOINC could start running.

But even setting this to 0, the app kept not being able to read the battery level properly.

Now, for me at least, this seems to have been fixed, using the latest recommended version of the BOINC Android client, and I can use the app both when plugged in, and if I enable "on battery" in the settings menu.

So please try the app once again on your Android phone, those of you who've experienced this issue in the past, and given up on the app because of this issue.

Something else Android BOINC related.

On my OnePlus 8T Android 14 Phone, ONLY the Asteroids@Home project works, none of the others do!

And for the fastest performance, I have to limit CPU usage to 1 single core, cause one of my 8 CPU cores is faster than the others, so I enable the 3 other slower performance cores, or the other 4 slowest efficiency cores, the fastest performance core also slows down, like I’ve described in another thread regarding my M4 Mac Mini’s P and E cores.

it’s baffling to me that only project works on Android, not really an attractive platform with such terrible support. Hopefully these projectd can be fixed, as I’m waiting for a response from all the various projects on their forums.

And I’ll be upgrading to the new Oneplus 13 with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which has no performance cores. I don’t think efficiency cores should be a thing at all, just thermal throttle the performance cores more and more often, cause there are too many issues with the whole P and E cores design. And for my M4 Mac Mini as well, I’d love to have 10 performance, and no fan, and just have them performance cores throttle as much as they need to, cause I enjoy a silent computer, and I don’t need substained performance.

As far as Android BIONC goes, World Community Grid does usually work at least when the servers are up.

Unfortunately WCG servers are down alot nowadays, and aren't due to restart until January. I get the feeling they are running on string and duct tape at the moment...
