Hello, I need help with an external GPU. I’ve done research and still can’t figure it out because I’m not trying to lose my M.2 slot since I only have one. However, the laptop I’m using is a Dell Latitude 5401, and it has another slot I think is called the WWAN slot. I’m wondering if I can do anything with that slot for an external GPU dock.

Hello @Dennyp,

You may be able to connect your internal wwan port. Though I'd personally advise against it, in theory it should work or you could macgyver it to work, but you would most likely lose you wireless networking capabilities. What type of external gpu do you have currently(as well as gpu you plan to put in it), with that I may be able to help you more.

I dont have one at the moment but I was just wondering if I could plug an external gpu dock into this port in the picture. It’s just a picture from a YouTube video because i didn’t want to take apart mine

The WWAN slot is intended for a mobile/cellular network card (wireless wide area network)

From what I've found it is PCIe and you can technically install a second NVMe in that slot.

What I haven't been able to confirm is what type of PCIe is available (e.g. PCIe 2.0 x1)

That would likely make an external GPU a waste, because it would lose a fair bit of performance.

If the laptop has TB3 (I think it does), that can be used to attach an eGPU.

You'll need a GPU, the enclosure, PSU and the cables to attach it (should normally be included)

This should serve as a starting point to find one:
