I’ve been on the lookout for a new GPU for a while, and with my recent upgrade to a gold-efficiency 750W PSU, now seems like the perfect time to make a move.

I initially thought it would be straightforward, especially with the Intel Arc B580 hitting headlines for its $250 price tag. However, in the UK, things aren’t as simple. On launch day, the cheapest I found was £259.99, which converts to around $325, and since then, prices have only gone up, with out-of-stock models now reaching around £280 - £300 ($350 - $375).

These price hikes are making me reconsider my options. I’m now debating whether to wait for Nvidia’s 50 series to release, especially if they eventually drop a 12GB variant of what seems to be an 8GB 5060. Alternatively, I’m wondering if Intel will be able to lower the price of the B580 in the UK or if I should revisit some AMD options.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the best move here!

It really depends on your budget.

Are you only gaming?

A 750w PSU is quite a lot of power so you got some head room.

I ran a 7700x and a overclocked RTX 4080 with my own 750w for 2 years without problems.

Nice that you upgraded the PSU, many people overlook this.

Primarily gaming, yes. My budget is probably somewhere around the Intel arc b580 £250 - £300 , but I am able to go above if a performance boost will be noticeable. I would just pick the b580 if it was as cheap as US pricing, but since the b580 is more expensive the the 4060 8gb and 3060ti 12gb right now, I'm not sure what to really do in this scenario...

Gotcha!  Its 3 AM here so I desperately need sleep.

I will be back tomorrow with some thoughts 🙂

Others will chime in as well.

We'll find you a GPU!

Thank you! It's about to be 2am for me as well, so I should really be getting some sleep... Didn't even realise the time 😂

last i checked the used market over there is kinda meh for amd gpus with 6800 (equiv to 7700xt) at 300-350£ and 6800xt at 400£ but that was over half a year ago so things may have changed and those dropped in price which might make them more worth it than the b580 that has the same performance as the 6750xt/4060ti

3080 might also be worth it if you can find a good deal on it cause iirc it was usually around the 350£ mark but can go cheaper and haggling is also a thing with the used market so you might be able to get a slight extra cost cut doing that
