Budget (including currency): 500-1000

Country: united states

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: elden ring

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I don't know much about pc's my father has helped me with mine for years. My pc one day just stopped working and it turned out my cat (I still love you Pumpkin) had knocked over my plant on my desk while I was at school leaving water to drop into little holes on top of my computer case. All I know is my computer was cheap and ancient with most parts coming from Fry's electronics. The only thing I know for sure we updated was my gtx 480 to a 960. Are there any budget pre-built options or budget but good parts I should look into buying for my new pc? My father is super busy and he doesn't have the money right now to help me. I've tried countless videos but I dont really understand much of them. I like to play Overwatch and Elden ring by the way if that helps choose parts good enough for those games. I am in highschool working 2 jobs and don't have a ton of time to research best pc options so, any help is appreciated!

Would you prefer a prebuilt or would you be open to build it yourself?

Budget between 500-1000 is quite the difference.

Do you want to be around 750-1000 or closer to 1000?  The difference between a $500-$750 or closer to $1000 can be quite significant in terms of performance.

Thats awesome 🙂

Building a PC yourself can seem daunting but its not really that difficult, just time consuming if its your first build.

I have helped plenty of people over discord while they built their first systems as well, I can be around to help you whenever you get the components.

Something like this would be a damn good gaming machine.  I am however getting close to maxing out the budget.

Hardware Unboxed just picked the 12400F as the best entry level CPU in 2024.

The Montech XR is a pretty cool case with 3 RGB fans included!

The Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 is a great reliable power supply with 10 year warranty.

A AM5 based system with a Ryzen 7600 would also be doable but would be sliiiiiightly above budget with a 7700 XT graphics card.

The Ryzen 7600 is faster than the 12400F.  But a budget is a budget and the 12400F is still a great CPU.
