Starting over

I've had to start over on my computer from scratch due to a house fire that I had on oct 24th and lost everything. Including my 4090 that I got from a open box from bestbuy for 500 off original price, that was returned the same day it was purchased. I've got most of my computer rebuilt minuse the gpu since the prices for a 4090 has shot up and I don't have the budget for it atm. But I got a cpu with a integrated graphics in it so I'm able to play some low quality games to hold me off till I can get a new gpu lol.

This is terrible.

A house fire is my worst fear.  I just had full fire alarm system installed in my new house last week that will automatically dial for help.

 

The most important thing is that you and your cat is safe

 

Without a GPU its time to replay some good old classics. 

Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2 , Half life series, maybe Diablo 2 remaster, Portal 1 and 2 runs nicely on integrated graphics!

We had a cat door on our front door so both of our cats were already out luckily and my daughter was staying at another family members that night thankfully. We had a lot of support after it happened so mainly all we are waiting on is for another home to be built and to build up what we have missing. Might have to look into a full fire alarm system like that as well lol.

Hopefully you can get settled back into a new house soon!

It was good that your daughter was away and did not experience this first hand.

 

 

I had this same type of alarm system in my previous house as well.

If the alarm goes off, they will call two numbers registered.  If I dont answer, they will send the fire department.

The reason for calling first is incase the fire alarm goes off from cooking or similar, no need to send the fire department because I can't make dinner properly

I have had accidents and they have always called within 10 seconds of the fire alarm going off.

 

Downstairs ( where I have all my tech stuff ) is also built to a higher fireproof standards so it won't easily spread to the rest of the house, its contained within its own sort of shell.

 

It might seem overkill.. But you unfortunately know what can happen.
