Get 2 sticks, it doesn't matter how much RAM you want or if you want 4 sticks for aesthetics, we tremendously recommend you get only 2 sticks for DDR5.

I ordered the ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI after watching some YouTube videos for decent AM5 motherboards that have good i/o connectivity as I do content creation and have lots of devices that require USB 3.0. Since the youtuber recommended this MOBO and I found a nice deal for it, I went ahead and ordered it off the official ASUS store.

Sure works

It was only after the MOBO was shipped that I decided to dive a bit deeper since I wanted to check how to update the BIOS without installing the CPU, which led me to the dreaded reviews on Newegg - quite a few DOAs, Mobo stops working after a month or two, etc.

if DOA then just apply warranty

Does anyone have experience with the ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI? Should I go ahead and build around it or should I buy another MOBO with decent I/O connectors? If so, which one would you recommend ($200-$400 range)? Is putting 4 sticks of 16GB RAM okay for it?

I would recommend you cancel the RAM order, and get 2 sticks of whatever size you desire, the speeds are correct though, RAM brand also doesn't matter much either.

You can keep your MB, it will do fine if it comes alright from factory, which again you can just return anyway...

If you need to know decent MB,

These MB are good, check their I/O if it fits your use case:

The ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI is an alright motherboard.

I wouldn't worry too much about the negative reviews, you will always find negative reviews on any product.

My ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI has mixed reviews on Newegg as well.  I have used this board in over 50 builds without any issues, its been rock solid for me as well.

You should not be using 4 sticks of RAM on Ryzen 7000 and 9000. They don't play nicely with it.  2 sticks is much better for compatability and stability.

Ram is entirely dependant on the memory controller in the cpu board has basically no influence.

Getting 4 sricks with ryzen is a bad choice as its EXTREMELY hard to get them running full speed. Doubly so if it wasnt in a single kit

Return the kits you got and get 32gb sticks if you really need 64gb of ram but really 32gb cor you is totally fine.

As for board The main thing that is is overpriced a simple b650 gaming ax thats 170$ will run ANY am5 cpu no sweat and is proven nice and stable. Aurus elite is 10$ more for some nicer looks.

Thank you all for replying so quickly, will definitely opt for 2 sticks, didn't know AMD setups were specific about it.

Yeah, I agree, and people who have issues typically are more likely to leave a review. I know ASUS as a decent brand, yet some of the comments got me thinking. MBs are a component I'm not that familiar with in general, so I decided to post here before doing anything rash. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks, will do. I initially ordered 32GB but then thought that if I have a bunch of background processes like streaming to YouTube & Twitch simultaneously while playing, it might affect performance. Probably won't be the end of the world, will have a think.

Thank you, I was looking at the ASRock B650 Steel Legend WiFi but might throw my dice with what I've ordered. I don't mind returning it, my only fear is that I set up the PC and it starts to malfunction, which could involve disassembly, waiting,  and putting everything back together again. They do say "experience is what you get when you don't get what you want," and that's fine and dandy, yet I'd hate running the risk of a part malfunctioning because of my extensive novice tinkering. Yet my fears could be irrational, who knows.

Hello there,

I have an Asus X670E-E Gaming Wifi motherboard and I think it's great.  Not exactly the same board as the one you are contemplating but it's pretty close I believe.  I am using a Ryzen 7 7800X3D cpu to control everything and I have 2 x 32 GB of DDR5 Corsair ram to give it room to work.

Yes, you will be really happy with the Asus board that you chose, if not, I would be completely surprised.

Take care and good luck.
