E disk keeps disappearing

I was playing game and it randomly crashed, i checked and my E disk where game was installed disappeared, I rebooted PC it did not work, i shutdown unplugged ssd from mobo and plugged in. i booted and it works for about 3-4 minutes, then it disappears

crystaldisk says that it is at 99% health, what can be issue?

Update it is working somehow for now… i played games and it has not disappeared, its been on for an hour, i restarted pc several times and it is still here.

To be on the safe side, if you have any unreplaceable data you want to keep on it, back it up before trying anything else.

 

I have had similar symptoms on a Sandisk SATA SSD and in my case it did die some days later. If the disk was visible at boot, it was fine, but sometimes it wasn't. One day, it stayed dead.

 

Try Samsung's own software on it too. Are temperatures on it reasonable? I have cooked an SSD before but that was more data corruption than disappearing.

More interesting is what is it before it crashes. Try checking after some time in game later.

I will. Do you think it is worth getting new sata cable try and test?

 

i have had this ssd for 2 years, I don’t understand why it is dying so fast. My Samsung m2 is at 75% and i had it for 4 years and still works fine.

 

i am thinking of getting second M2 if this one ends up dying

Wont hurt to try. Mobos usually come with a bunch so if you still have a box of bits maybe you have more somewhere? If you have other SATA ports on the mobo, that could be tried also.

The health reported is usually dominated by the wear and tear. It can't reliably predict sudden or unusual failure modes. While I never found out why my SSD died, I'd guess the controller went and there's not a lot you can do about that. Nothing is perfect and important data needs to be backed up in case of unpredictable events.

SSDs are weird and complicated. CD will do it's best to guess, but I've had drives fail well north of 90% and I've had ones still kicking at 15%. It's a rule of thumb, not an absolute. 
Def backup critical data, and also check temps while playing an intense game off it. It's possible that there is some airflow fluke just dumping hot air on it.

Can you post here full smart table from crystaldiskinfo of it?
