Converting VHS to digital.

I’m after a bit of advice.

im looking at converting my old VHS to digital but im not particularly knowledgeable on the subject and searching for the kit to do it is a minefield of stuff that is either crazy expensive or probably garbage. 
It’s just a couple of tapes of home videos I’m looking to convert. Does anyone have any advice on what to use that isn’t crazy expensive that will do the job. I already have a VHS player.
