Hello guys, I am going to buy an r9 290 in august and I was wondering what the best non reference model would be. I was thinking of the r9 290 sapphire vapor-x, but I dont know if that card removes the r9 290's "VFM" marking which is the main reason i am buying it. Also, my PC will be blue and black themed if that will help

Personally I would get the Sapphire Vapor-X as my mates brother has the tri-X and its a boss, the Vapor X is meant to be better too.

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb

The vapor-X is definitely the best 290 out there, followed closely by the tri-X & the PowerColor PCS+.
The card is super cool and much much quieter than the 780 let alone reference 290s. It also overclocks like crazy !

With the voltage maxed, temperatures never exceeded the 75°C mark and we were able to hit an impressive core speed of 1280MHz.
