So I recently bought a asrock challenger 7800xt and it seems to overheat after a while of playing games and then just shutdown when I checked event viewer it showed a critical warning saying my gpu reached 392k or 118c my case has virtually no intake the only intake is through a push pull rad config but that’s it I have 2 exhaust but one is in the back and one is on top I could flip the top around but I don’t want the fan to be sucking dust in since it’s on the top

I’m just wondering because 118c is so hot is this a no intake issue or a faulty gpu cooling system issue

Remove the sidepanel of the case and check temperatures again.

118c is way too hot.

Having some intake fans is recommended.
Move the top exhaust fan to the front, even if you return the GPU.  If there is space of course.

You have an AIO mounted in the front?

Before returning, run with the side panel off.  If it says cool, then you need better ventilation.

If it still gets hot with the side panel off, then I would agree it is probably defective, if you can return or exchange it i would do that.

I would definitely return it if i could, it should not reach anywhere near those temps, even with bad airflow. A push pull radiator should still be just fine for the intake, can you show us a picture of your PC?

Well it’s kind of weird because when u check gpu z while gaming and I log the files it shows my hotspot temp only 89 at the max and gpu is 60ish degrees but event viewer shows a sudden spike and then it turns off
