Trouble with Dowloading games

Hi i Build my pc last summer and i am having trouble with dowloading/ Updating games mostly on steam any download always begins at around 90 mbs per second but then after 10-20 seconds it drops heavily sometimes fully and i get 0 mbs and i wonder why
i checked my task manager during dowloads and noticed my SSD card being at 0 or 1% i have no clue if thats an issue and when i tried internet speed testers they all gave me a good score around 770 mbps so i dont know what to do and what is the problem it mostly happens on steam and on riot it acts mostly normal and epic games mostly as well but today its worse then normal

90 MB/s (megabytes per second) = about 730 Mb/sec (megabits per second), so Steam is at least starting downloads as fast as your Internet connection allows. It could be decompressing game files in RAM when the download pauses.

That is indicative that the SSD can work faster. An SSD bottleneck would hit 100% for example. If the SSD was defective, then the %usage becomes irrelevant.

If Riot and Epic offer the full download speed, then Steam bugging down is probably not your fault. The most probable cause is that the Steam servers are overloaded and they slow the downloads to serve everyone at the same time. Another probability is that your ISP is throttling down Steam downloads because they can't handle the full volume of downloads at the moment.

As for what to do to fix that issue.... yep that are only suggestions as it is often the case with Internet issues.

Before using Steam, make sure you don't have any apps using your Internet connection to download large amount of data. I know you already checked but take a few seconds to make sure.

In the Steam client, check of the server location is really near your physical location. Some vpn or anti-virus software may confuse the client and set your location to asia or some far-away servers. They certainly won't prioritise your downloads if you are at the other side of the world.

Again in the Steam client, check if there is a download speed limit that has been set. For obvious reasons, try setting a higher limit or disable the speed limit feature if possible.

At this point, if there is no improvements, try setting the auto-update feature of Windows and the Steam client to disabled. Then test one download at a time to see if you are getting better speeds.

A thing you can try is to edit your connection parameters and set the DNS server used to 8.8.8.8 (Google) or to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare). This may or may not help, but it's worth a shot.

Last thing I can think of is using a VPN so that your ISP doesn't know you are downloading from Steam. The VPN will probably be slower than your actual Internet connection, but it's better slower than zero.
