It could be a defective GPU, bad power supply, outdated / corrupt drivers, or your monitor going bad. If you have a spare PC or can borrow a friend's PC, swapping the GPU into another known-good working computer will help narrow down if it's the GPU itself. Same goes for connecting the monitor to another known-good working PC or laptop to see if it's a monitor problem. Basically, change one variable at a time until you find the culprit.
