I currently have a Canon 1200D (a.k.a. rebel T5)

While it has served me well as a beginner, I'm recently not quite satisfied with the resolution of pictures I am getting, so I'm starting to think about an upgrade.

I already have a few lenses, so would rather stay with Canon, however am open to being convinced otherwise. I like the sound of mirrorless, and want to move to a full-frame sensor. Budget isn't too much of a concern, but I don't want to go crazy.

I mainly take landscape, however also do some astro and street too.

If anyone has suggestions, that would be fantastic, as I've not really been keeping an eye on the market!

Thanks in advance!

The 1200D / T5 is part of Canon's entry-level DSLR lineup (alongside the T1 / T2 / T3 / T4 / T6 / T7 / etc.) and is a respectable 18MP resolution - more than enough for most people's needs, even if you want to print poster sized copies of your photos. The Rebel T1i / T2i / T3i / T4i / T5i / T6i / T7i / etc. are one step above their non-i counterparts, offering more features when it comes to video and tweaking your shots, if I recall correctly.

That said, it sounds like you're not satisfied with the clarity or sharpness of your photos, rather than the raw megapixel count? (More Megapixels != better quality.) If so, I hear ya - I started with a Rebel T1i (note the "i" in the model) which is a step above the T1 from way back in the day. It was decent at the time, and didn't break the bank, but was only capable of so much before I'd want a camera with a better sensor and focus system.

All my recent camera research was dedicated to the now-discontinued Canon EOS M series of cameras, so I'm unfamiliar with their current / other lineups, but it seems Canon is indeed focusing on the EOS RP series of cameras right now, so you may want to look into those. I would recommend the following resources when it comes to investigating your camera options, in addition to asking questions as replies in this forum thread.

Note that most of the time you can get a lens adapter that allows you to use your existing lenses with whatever new camera you choose, so long as the new camera's sensor isn't massively larger than the old camera's sensor. (Even then, you can still use a compatible adapter, but you may experience vignetting, color fringing, or lack of sharpness around the edges of your photos. Still a great way to re-use your lenses though.)

I'd strongly suggest looking into used equipment, especially for what you're looking to do.

A used Canon EOS 5Dmk2 is a fantastic value for your use cases, you can get them for under $300 pretty frequently.  Paired with a used EF 50mm f/1.8 is basically a professional level portrait/street system for under $400 dollars.  Gives you lots of potential budget to get a top tier astro lens on a full frame body.  Something like the EF 14mm f/2.8 that you see on ebay consistently for $500-$600.   That's something that'll absolutely kill everything you want to do for under a grand and any EF lenses you pick up for that camera will work perfect with any mirrorless R camera you might one day upgrade to with a $100 adapter.
