I have a Logitech brand wired gamepad, forgot what exact model it is, and its D-pad now often fails to register keypresses. I play games like Elden Ring and Genshin Impact, which plays better on a controller than KB+M.

Now I would like to buy a new controller, it has to fulfill the following requirements:

  • $22 (MYR100) and below.
  • Wireless optional, can be purely wired too.
  • And most importantly, be compatible with Linux, since that is my main OS now. If wireless, the wireless capability must be supported by Linux.

I've seen some PS3 controllers sold on the cheap, some of them wireless, can these work, especially for a Linux system?

I don't have any suggestions at the price, but..

It's a courtesy to also let us know what online retailers you can shop from so that we don't waste time making suggestions for products that are unavailable to you.

What products have you looked at and are possibly considering?

The only thing I can recommend at around that price point is the 8bitdo ultimate 2C if you can get it in your country, although if you get the wireless version, you'd be better off using the included wireless dongle since apart from the increased polling rate (that you don't get using bluetooth), trying to pair the controller on bluetooth in linux was an utter pain, however the controller itself along with its 2.4Ghz wireless dongle is compatible with linux.
