Good evening!

Out of the nowhere my PC started to have slowdowns on media and sometimes in games (not FPS), some examples:
Music (mostly streaming via Tidal) the music will play but a little slower then it should be
Video: Youtube slowing down, sometimes even to the point i get very fast stutters. VLC cuts audio off every few seconds, media player plays videos but will slow down

It also happens in games: background music is playing, but if i would open a menu in game the music slows down until i close it again. Framerate will keep the same.

I could live all that time with said problems, but i finally have room for VR again and after 1 song in beatsaber with constant speed changes (not in the song) i was done with it and i cant live with that tbh.

I have the feeling that it would be a problem with my CPU, but i cant imagine that my CPU would suddenly be to slow for everything it did fine a few months ago

My specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070
RAM: 32GB @3200 MHz CL16

Mainboard: ASrock X470 Master SLI

OS: Windows 11 Education 64 BIT

Anyone have any suggestions?

Could it be thermal throttle?

What are the temperatures on the cpu and gpu, especially during load when the slowdowns and stutter happens?

Thanks for the response!

Temps are fine, just double checked it with Furmark and Cinebench at the same time. GPU reached 75 degrees and CPU 70, i dont think that would cause this kind of slowdown

I would expect more problems while gaming if it would be my GPU

No it's the decoding part, with music and videos.

Would you please confirm, while like playing these videos, would the usage mainly be on CPU or on the GPU.

Also, did you tweak any settings/updates? If you accidentally moved it to software then your old 2700x will have to do the job.

While playing video's:
VLC: Bearly 1% decode on the GPU and CPU hovers around 3-5%, when i start a game the video keeps playing the same, only the sound cuts off every few seconds
Youtube: video decode 14%, CPU 5-10%. With game running: Video decode 10%

While streaming music (Tidal) nothing happens on the GPU, CPU around 5%, while gaming the music keeps playing but slower with all CPU cores around 40%

That is weird indeed...

That is why i suspect the CPU or maybe the OS, biggest problem with the OS is that i hate setting everything up again.

I will try to make a video of what happens tomorrow

its really weird... but you know what's also weird? your OS...

I would recommend a full reinstall of windows 10 (home or pro) you can just download it from microsoft and install it without a license... and if it fixes anything you could still buy a license.

just saying because windows 11 has lots of issues still, and while educational obviously shouldn't have such issues either, it's still the weirdest part of this whole story... hence... install. windows. 10. fresh. use only one hard-drive, the OS drive basically.
