I know it's sad to see people recommend stuff without reading the post fully. There is no doubt that the N66U is a great router but that's all people seem to recommend any more.

ASUS RT-N66U/R or RT-AC66U/R. Both are fantastic. I have two of the AC66's because all of my devices are AC, but that might be overkill for you.

I picked up my AC66R's for $85 and $100 respectively as factory refurbs from Newegg. Absolutely no issues. Should fit your budget as long as you wait a few days for them to go on sale for ~$100 again.

In my opinion, the short answer is: Buy the best ASUS router you can afford.

Obviously prices will differ wildly between regions, even in just the EU. Other people can make suggestions, but unless they also live in Denmark, the prices could potentially be good for them and bad for you.

The RT-AC66U is fantastic if you can afford it (Look for refurbished, or really good sales, or open box). The RT-AC68U isn't really all that much better than the AC668U so don't worry about that model unless it's on a killer sale.

Alternatively if you don't have any Wireless AC devices and don't plan on getting any soon, then the ASUS RT-N66U is a really sweet router too, just without Wireless AC connectivity (it's still dual-band with 5GHz, just only wireless N).

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

iPhone Xr 128 GB Product Red - HP Spectre x360 13" (i5 - 8 GB RAM - 256 GB SSD) - HP ZBook 15v G5 15" (i7-8850H - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD - NVIDIA Quadro P600)

pfSense / Untangle / SophosUTM with a wireless access point. pfSense is probabally best for performance. Also note that these are router operating systems, so you can either build a computer or use an old one. You could also use ESXi and install pfsense and freenas or expenology on one machine and save power (:

I use a Netgear WNDR3700. Before that I used the crappy stock Verizon router that the ISP gave us.

Yup, can't really go wrong with Asus at this price range. If you can stretch, or if there's a deal, get the RT-N66U, it's tried and trusted.

How about the ASUS RT-N56U, it's a bit cheaper - Fits my budget a bit better, but what are the downsides? Compared to the ASUS RT-N66U for example
