Hey,

found an old Samsung TV which has decent size and everything. Except the 3 dead rows of pixels. Id love to find some use for it but it doesnt really have anything. All apps outdated etc. Is there any way to install googletv/android tv on it? Or any other OS that has up to date apps? Also any easy and safe way to try and repair the dead rows? thx

So to fix the dead pixels you would likely need to replace the panel

As for apps and such, grab a firestick or android box and just use the screen as a dumb display

Google is your friend! It's basically a computer in a stick

No instead of using the slow built in soc and usually crappy os you use a device that plugs into hdmi that does all that but far better and also tends to stay updates MANY years after.

Yeah I know there are already made Android TV boxes. Is that what was meant here?

I found some google chromecast 4 and some other by small brands but i was hoping i could just do smth simple as i dont want to buy external android tv box for old tv. Nor do i want to build one myself.

The simple way is to just get a google tv or something. Third party watch out a ton have built in malware. 30$ can get you a BETTER than current smart tv experience.

There is no way to install a custom os on a smart tv. A couple could do it but it's not going to be functional for use really more a fun project.

As for the defects they are permanent. Panel replacement is only option.
