heyo, i currently have an i3 9100f with a h310m pro vdh-plus mobo, GTX 1060 6gb, 16 gigs 2400 mhz. looking for a good CPU upgrade for around 1.700.000 which translates to around 110 ish USD, i live in indonesia so the market is slightly diffferent. the choices ive found are, i7 8700(both k and non k), i5 9600k,i7 9700 (slightly over budget)  or i swap to amd b450m with r5 3600. all of these are used btw. im okay with switching sockets aslong as its in budget. i use my pc to do some light video editing for school, coding, and playing games and stream occasionally, i only play apex legends and overwatch. just need guidance on which cpu to pick, oh and also im open to trying overclocking but im not sure if my mobo supports it. any help help is greatly appreciated!

Hi buddy,

While the 8700k is still a good little cpu (I still game on one), you're only going to be able to OC it if its paired with a Z series mobo so if you're budget can't fit a z290/z390 board as well as a 8700k or 9600k then you shouldn't bother.

While I'm not an AMD man, I think the most amount of performance gain you can hope to achieve would be to pop in a 9600 (or 9700) if budget allows. I don't think swapping to an r5 3600 would be much better but maybe someone else here can weigh in on that.

I'd say if budget allows for b450 and an R5 3600: go for it, am4 will continue to have a great upgrade path for a few more years to come even if it is now a dead-end platform.

A 5800x3d will keep up with a 3080, and even 5 years from now: that will still be a solid platform.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

thank you for your reply! ini ram buat exact model ram

after some thought i think i am going to raise my budget a bit for the r5 5600 since the performance boost for a small difference in price is worth it. dan buat pilihan motherboard di ganti ke Asrock A320M HDV ada listing harga 665.000.
