Also should I wait for 50 series GPU release or go with the current 40 series.

Wait period of the pc is fine, I can buy it next year too

Depends on what software you use. Does it benefit from NVIDIA gpus or doesnt matter?

Since PCPP doesn't have India, I'll just use US, see your local tech shops pricing and see if they more or less match.

As for if you should wait for the 50 series: maybe. I doubt the prices of 4090's will drop much because it's still the most demanded gpu at the moment, even if 5090 comes out, you'll still be waiting a while for the prices to drop for a 4090, and i can guarantee a 5090 will probably cost like $3000.

I would say yes. I would buy now if I really had to and it was urgen, otherwise would wait til the RTX 5000 release. Not that I would assume a 5090 would fit even in a high budget like yours as easily as a 4090. I fully expect the 5090 to cost more than the MSRP of the 4090 and then get scalped to hell. But you can always wait and see.

My suggestion would be to build a PC around a 14900K, then get any used graphics card like a used RTX2060, or reuse whatever you currently have and wait to see what happens with the RTX5000 series. At the very least, a used 4090 will come with a much better price tag for you by then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, they HAD issues. You just need to install a microcode patch now.

why do you think that? they released a patch. but issues remain mostly unfixed. these chips aren't salvageable, they die within 1-2 years.

Issue remains on cpus that have been used, because they had higher voltage before they got patched, Author's buying a brand new pc. As long as he gets the latest updates for his drivers I don't see much problem.

Author, if you're really concerned about the instability and such with 13 14 gen intel chips: Get a 12900k(f). Or go AM5 and get a 7950X.

The problem is im seeing no evidence this update actually fixes something,  on the contrary everything i see says the update barely does anything, only lower voltages a bit, it doesn't fix the inherent design flaw(s)

is there any evidence of the contrary that these "microcode*" updates actually fix something and not just slow down the inevitable (demise) of these chips because i honestly haven't seen any?

*pretty sure microcode stands for snakeoil here 😛

basically this is what people base this on?

Intel is delivering a microcode patch which addresses the root cause of exposure to elevated voltages. We are continuing validation to ensure that scenarios of instability reported to Intel regarding its Core 13th/14th Gen desktop processors are addressed. Intel is currently targeting mid-August for patch release to partners following full validation.

Intel is committed to making sure all customers who have or are currently experiencing instability symptoms on their 13th and/or 14th Gen desktop processors are supported in the exchange process.

To help streamline the support process, Intel's guidance is as follows:

  • For users who purchased 13th/14th Gen-powered desktop systems from OEM/System Integrator - please reach out to your system vendor's customer support team for further assistance.

  • For users who purchased boxed/tray 13th/14th Gen desktop processors - please reach out to Intel Customer Support for further assistance.

Hmm, I thought they'd fix stuff since they issued RMAs. So they built a faulty cpu, got cooked cause of it, and now they released one patch and a statement and just keep resending same old broken cpus??? Yikes.

they issue rmas because they have to... you get a fresh still broken cpu and a "patch"... you see.

And people fall for it too (oh there's a patch that must mean its fixed...)

but, again, my point is intel *has* to do this - legally - if they didn't whatever is coming to them would be much worse...

Atp all you can do is hope their "next gen" doesn't have similar issues again...

Jeez.

Well, that changes things, only slightly though.
Either go with a 12900kf, or go AM5 and see what you have for the same price as a 14900kf. I found a 7950X, which should be good.
