Hello,

My laptop I purchased for university is causing me some headache. It's an HP Elitebook 640 G9 on Windows 11.

My monitor at my desk is a Gigabyte M32Q with the built in KVM.  I have all my peripherals connected to that so I can swap between my desktop and school laptop.

The laptop connects with a USB C thunderbolt cable. Here's the exact cable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1WLQ7XP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

My work laptop is almost the same. It's an HP Elitebook 640, g10 on windows 10. It connects to the monitors kvm without issue every time.

My school laptop however worked for a while and now it's 40% of the time it connects. Sometimes rebooting helps. Once it's connected, there are no issues if I move the cable around, making me think the port and cable are fine and it's likely software related.  The is specifically the display function. The connected mouse, headset and keyboard work all the time.

I checked for windows updates, driver updates, sfc scan. Bios settings are default and set to allow all usb c connections.

Thunderbolt control center shows no devices whether they are connected or not.

Here is the error I'm getting.

Any ideas and help are appreciated.
