Ive got a Supermicro 813M-3 that im having issues installing Server 2019 Essentials onto.

The issue is I cant get the Windows installer to detect the RAID array(s).

Ive got 2 RAID Arrays, one is 2 SSD's and one is 2 HDDs, both in a RAID 1.

If I go in the BIOS and go Advanced > PCH SATA Configuration and set it to RAID, the windows installer wont see any drives.

If I go in the BIOS and go Advanced > PCH SATA Configuration and set it to AHCI, Windows Sees each drive separately, rather than the RAID volumes.

In the BIOS in RAID mode, under Advanced > Intel VROC SATA Controller, I can see my two RAID volumes, each containing 2 disks. Windows can't see this though.

When I first got the server I had a boot prompt for CTRL + I to enter the RAID configuration utility, not sure where it went but I can no longer get to it.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Sounds like you need to install the Intel VROC driver package inside Windows, or use it as an "F6 disk" driver in the Windows installer.

I ran into the same problem when I gave Windows Server a shakedown run on a PowerEdge R540.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

Interesting. I will try that

Edit: I downloaded all the windows drivers (5 of them) from the website, unzipped them, and loaded them on my install USB. WIndows is saying it can't find any drivers now.

Whats the correct way to load drivers?

Thanks

Is this the motherboard you have in the server? https://www.supermicro.com/products/archive/motherboard/x8sil

If so it says the Chipset is the Intel 3400 which provides the RAID functionality.

Supermicro's last supported driver for this is for Windows Server 2012 R2

Description: Intel SATA RAID Drivers (Drivers) PCH

Version: v12.8.0.1016

If this is the board; make sure you have this IntelRST Driver. Not sure if it will work on Windows Server versions newer than 2012R2 though; or if any newer versions of the IntelRST driver has support for the older chipsets.

Supermicro have some newer versions here: https://www.supermicro.com/wdl/driver/SATA/Intel_PCH_RAID_RST/Windows/

During the install procedure you should have an option like "Load Driver" or "Have Disk" or something like that...just browse to the specific folder. Its better to go into the deepest folder and not just the root of the drive. e.g D:\Win\WIN64

It had RAID working on Server 2019 with 4 SSDs, I changed to 2 SSDs and 2 HDDs, and I had that CTRL + I RAID utility, so not sure why it suddenly doesn't work.

This is the system I have: https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/system/1U/5019/SYS-5019P-M.cfm

This is the motherboard that should be in it: https://www.supermicro.com/en/products/motherboard/X11SPM-F

Ill try the RST driver you linked.

Edit: Called Supermicro, they directed me to the resources for the X11SPM-F Motherboard, and had me download the Intel SATA drivers and those seem to fix my issue.

Thanks!
