I got a wireless cherry mouse about 3 years ago for my bday, and its been great until about 6 months ago.

The cursor just f**ks off at random points no matter what program/game is running. Its most annoying when playing FPS games like battlebit when I'll suddenly find myself pointing the opposite direction or straight at the floor/sky after lining up a sniper shot.

Also happens when just browsing the web the cursor will just suddenly appear at the corner of the screen (it has no preference on which) when I go to click on anything.

Ive updated windows and graphics drivers. Tried OS mouse and native settings with no clear difference.

The weird thing is theres no pattern to it, sometimes it wont happen for days, other times its multiple times an hour.

Have i just gone insane or is this a common thing with the RF signal getting interference or somthing. Any insight or suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S. ive also tried touching grass ;)

Have you cleaned the sensor? I've had it happen when there's debris or even a hair on the sensor, it can cause some weird behavior. Same goes for debris on your desk/mouse pad.

The desk mat gets vaccumed regularly but ill double check the sensor and report any findings. Thanks for the suggestion.

Same here, esp if you have pets in the house.

I'd do as suggested above and also, even if you've had no problems up until now:
If the laser in the mouse is beginning to weaken it might not be reading the surface it's on quite as well as used to in the same way a laser in your game console or BR player does over time.

The surface it's on affects how well it "Sees" where it is and the color of the surface matters too.
You can clean it and then check if there isn't a better surface/mouse pad or just a spot in general it works better with and use it that way.

Well i feel like a dummy lol. I had a little hair coiled up snuggley in the tiny gap between the glass of the sensor and the housing of the mouse. It seems the problem had an annoyingly simple solution. Hopefully the issue disappears. Thanks to all who commented :)
