Hello!

I have built a new PC with the following parts:

1. Motherboard: ASRock X670E Taichi

2. CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X

3. RAM: NEMIX RAM ME44800-328K2-GX (2x32GB DDR5-5600 CL40 @1.1V ECC UDIMM)

4. PSU: Corsair HX1200i (1200W)

5. AIO: Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 ARGB Black

Issue:

The PC only boots with both RAM sticks in channel B, slots: B1 + B2 (the BIOS sees all 64GB RAM running at 5600MT/s).

If I insert the RAM sticks in either A2+B2, or A1+B1, for a dual channel setup, I get the "C5" Q-Code error, and the system doesn't enter into the BIOS menu.

Mention:

I am running the latest BIOS version (3.06).

Any troubleshooting ideas?

What happens when you only run a stick in A2? If this doesn't boot, you have a dead memory channel.

Assuming this is a dead memory channel, this is either a dead motherboard, a dead CPU memory controller, or a bent/dirty socket pin. I would reseat the CPU and check the pads and the pins to see if anything is bent or if there's any debris in the socket. If not, then I would start by RMAing the motherboard as that's the more likely of the two to be dead.

Hello!

I have finally solved the issue.

(I have bought a different RAM kit).

Conclusion:

It is not a dead channel.

It's not a faulty CPU or motherboard.

It's not even a faulty RAM kit.

It's an incompatibility between the RAM kit and the rest of the system.

This RAM kit only works in channel B, with both DIMMS inserted in B1+B2.

If I insert a single RAM module, alone, in any of the 4 slots, it won't post, error "C5".

If I insert the 2 DIMMs in any other configuration except B1+B2, it won't post, error "C5".

Bottom line / My advice:

Do not buy RAM kits that aren't on the QVL!

Hi guys

I too had the same issue with the Asrock B650 Taichi with 2 ram modules of 32gb 6000mhz CL30 (64gb in total) and a 9800x3D - Only one memory module was being detected like the OP advised. I was going mental with the bloody thing. To cut a very long story short, what fixed the issue for me was aliviating the pressure of the cooler AIO on the CPU IGS by unscrewing the 4 bolts to aliviate the contact pressure. i started little by little unscrewing it until the point that the C5 error (after a long 15 error code wich i believe to be the memory training) was gone and booted into the BIOS and i could finally see both memory modules.

You guys don't understand the time i have lost with this piece of crap but in the end im happy with the result. Cinebench tests shows 74C on my 9800x3D which i believe to be a good temperature on the CPU.

How did i found this out?? One of the procedures i did was check if the motherboard pins had any bent and trying to resit the CPU on the socket. After that done, the key thing was i didn't put the AIO on top to test it again. I used a shitty air cooler i had laying around and i just put it on top of the cpu with no screwing at all. just put it on top, and when i turn on the PC, to my surprise the PC booted with both memories being detected. In conclusion, the only diferent thing from that air cooler and the AIO was the mounting pressure applied with the screws. Happy days.

I trully hope this helps someone like it did for me. Have a good holiday guys.

Hello!

I, personally, made a decision to always buy motherboards with backplate, to stop any type of bending.
