Budget (including currency): 10k AUD

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: CS2, BO6 and a host of other single players games while being able to have YouTube, discord and multiple other tabs open

Other details

I’m planning out my long term build as my current one just isn’t handling anymore, decided to spend a fair bit and don’t plan on changing any parts for at least 5 years. I have two 3440x1440 monitors and want to be able to run just about any game at max settings for that resolution.

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

CPU Cooler: Asus Ryujin III AIO

Motherboard: Asus x670E-E Wifi

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5, 64GB (2x32GB), 6400MHz C32

Storage 1: 8TB Samsung 870 SSD

Storage 2: Crucial T705 4TB M.2

GPU: Asus 4090 24GB

Case: Hyte Y70 Ti

PSU: Asus Thor 1200W P2

Case Fans: Lian Li TL LCD (10 fans total, with three attached to the radiator for the CPU AIO)

Just wondering what the opinions are on the build and whether there could be any substitutions anyone would recommend

Looks good to me. Could get a better PSU from a reputable brand like SeaSonic if you are willing to go all out. Amazing build, pretty sure it might last more than 5 years.

Pls Mark a solution as a solution, would be really helpful.

BTW pls correct me, iam really stoobid at times.

It's more reasonable to upgrade a build as things weaken vs use case, rather than try to buy something to last a set time frame.

Your main choices are fine, the 7800x3d and 4090.   The others... They're more "wants" than providing any real benefit.

Not sure id go 4090 tho, as it's overkill now.  4080 Super would be my call as even it is overkill for your games at the res.

Yea I getcha, the problem with upgrading my current build is its am4 and the case it’s in is already too small. And in regards to the 4090 it is definitely overkill but I’ve got the money to spend so I thought I might as well go for it over the 4080

The main reason I went for the Thor was because I wanted to match the Asus part with the rest of the ones I have, would the benefits of a seasonic out weight the matching set?

You want DDR5-6000 CL30 for these AM5 cpu's. Everything else works although I'm not a big fan of fish tank cases due to airflow.

Ah yea I see, didn’t even think about the difference between the two, 6000 CL30 definitely fits my needs more, thanks

1. What is the purpose of matching parts ?

2. Seasonc and EVGA are generally considered one of the best PSU manufacturers followed by Corsair.

So, if you are going to spend money on high quality parts, why not get a good SeaSonic PSU.

Means I only need one software to run them all, and yea after comparisons it's not that big of a difference for the PSU, the Thor will perform good enough for my needs and match the lighting of the rest of my ASUS parts
