I like Windows 8 more than Windows 7. It is way faster and with Shell Start Menu, there is no need to use the Metro Interface. Also I haven't used the Metro Interface in months. And I have never ever had a Windows 8 blue screen. NEVER!

Unless you're on vista or XP, no.

Windows 8 is fine as long as you have something like startisback, start8, or classicshell.

I'm running WIndows 8.1 Pro on my desktop and Windows 7 on all of my laptops... I was hesitant about making the switch especially on my primary gaming machine but I'm actually super comfortable with Windows 8 now and I've had no issues with it at all. I went for the pro version because it includes Hyper-V and I'm able to run a bunch of Linux VMs for development testing. The one piece of software that I have which says it doesn't officially support Windows 8.1 is a piece of audio software and it has actually had no issues at all... the lack of official support is merely a precaution.
