Hey guys,

I just got a new rtx 4070 ti super and i need to upgrade my PSU as my current one is 650 watts. Since the 40 series have a new Pcie do I need to pick specific models of PSUs so that it’s compatible or does the rtx already come with its own specific adapter and that way I can pick any PSU?

What is your CPU? The PSU is not ideal, but still should be easily enough for your system. If you do buy a new PSU, you can either buy an ATX 3.0 PSU with the new connector, or just buy an adaptor if all the ATX 3.0 PSUs are more expensive

I’m buying a 750 watt corsair psu

Imo you should either buy an 850W one to be more futureproof, or just don't upgrade it yet, because 650W should still be enough, I saw a guy running a 4090 with some 650W PSU, which probably isn't the best idea, but your 4070 TI super should be fine

I've got a 550W with my 7600x (undervolted) and 4070 Super, and it seems to work fine

Still planning on upgrading though

Yeah people seem to overestimate how much power they actually need, just because the PSU is the most efficient at around 50% load, doesn't mean that you need it to stay in that range for it to work
