Upgrade Help!

Main points:

  • Budget: £250/300GBP
  • Based in the UK
  • Main games played would be CS2/GTA V/New CoD title if possible

Looking upgrade recommendations as i have an older system that id like to get back up and running.

Currently has:

  • I5-3570
  • Asus Strix GTX 970
  • 8GB DDR3 Ram ( I know this will be in dire need of being changed

Ideally for now id like to keep the GPU as its a tad out of budget and i know my main weak points are CPU/RAM etc. Its just been that long since ive looked into any of this and would appreciate help on the best idea for parts under the budget.

All help appreciated.

For CPU: 12400F or 5600 are what I'd consider entry-level CPUs now, you could get a motherboard and memory within your budget (cooler is included in the CPU box).

You could try and push up to a 7500F/7600 bundle for future upgradability, but I think that would put you over your budget by £50 or so.

For GPU: the best you'd get for just over £300 would be a 6750 XT, but even a 6600 non-XT would be a big upgrade.

Would you recommend sticking with Intel then? Had a lot of friends go AMD recently and wasnt sure whatd be the more cost effective and best performing option

Either used Ryzen or some 11/12th gen Intel system, how is the entire PC spec wise?

Feel free: To ask any question, no matter what question it is, I will try to answer. I know a lot about PCs but not everything.

current PC:

PCs I used before:

  1. Pentium G4500 | 4GB/8GB DDR4 2133Mhz | H110 | GTX 1050
  2. Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz / OC:4Ghz | 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz / 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1050
  3. Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz | 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1080 ti

It doesn't matter, those CPUs (12400F/5600) perform within a % or two and cost about the same (~£100).

Availability of a motherboard with the features you want might even make the decision for you more than the CPU.
