Hello. I have been trying to setup a windows server NAS in order to run a plex server on it. I have 2x 4tb WD blue hard drives in a spanned volume totaling 8 gb. I brought these drives over from a different computer already populated with files and nearly full. However, when I plug in the drives to the new computer, the total size of the volume only shows around 4gb. Both drives give no issues, I have run check disk on both drives and had 0 errors, yet I can't change the size of the volume or anything. It's an absolutely bizarre issue and I have no idea how to address it. I have run DMDE on the drives and the partitions are as shown.

Well AFAIK you can't just add prevoiusly formatted disks to a JBOD. They need to be empty Volumes to be added to the Pool.

This is probably Why your NAS only recognizes the first Volume and therefore only shows you 4TB.

Edit:

So I think the only way to solve this is to back-up the drive that does not show up yet to some other medium, then delete all Volumes on that drive and add it back to the JBOD. Then you might be able to extend the 4TB Volume to 8 TB. But then you would need to transfer back all of the data you had prevously saved.

So to be clear, I am not trying to add new drives to the pool. I am purely trying to access an already existing set of drives on a different computer. I have swapped the two drives from one computer to another, and somehow half the volume just doesnt show up. I can access half the data, and the rest I can see the files but they have no size

okay, but were those drives also in a jbod configuration on the previous device or not ? Because if not you would nee to add the second drive as if it were a new one.

Yeah they were what should have been an identical configuration. A spanned 8tb volume of the two drivesimage.thumb.png.8980cebc85ca0ecd00bc256156a8cf1d.png
