I just built my first PC, but my GPU doesn't display anything when I plug it into my monitor. My system works perfectly fine when I connect my display to my motherboard instead, and my GPU's fans and LEDs both work.

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B650-A GAMING WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard

Storage: SK Hynix Gold P31 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive
Video Card: PowerColor Red Devil Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24 GB Video Card (Refurbished)
Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: MSI MAG A1000GL PCIE5 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Case Fan: ARCTIC P12 56.3 CFM 120 mm Fan

Windows 11 Home 64 bit

BIOS version: 3024 (newest version)

Thanks for any help!

I've had hardware changes needing a reboot to display.

Do you use 3 individual psu cables to power the gpu or do you daisy chain ? if not, try the 3 individual psu cables

It'd be nice to try the gpu in another desktop

I'm using 3 individual cables, though one of them is from the 16pin slot on my PSU since it only came with 2 8pin to 8pin cables.

I don't have any other desktop.

I'd try without the one from the 16pin slot and daisy chain one (no idea if this makes any sense, just an idea).

Double check everything is plugged in to the end, also psu side.

Don't you have friends who do ?

I just swapped the cables and made sure everything is plugged in, but the GPU still doesn't work.

I do have a friend with a desktop, but I don't think his PSU is enough for my 7900 XTX.

Just to make sure, this is correctly plugged in, right?20240812_221751.thumb.jpg.56ff01057b5b19daf02908a2b50d3568.jpg

It's an hour drive away so I would prefer not to, but if you think that's the best plan right now I could go get it checked in-store.

It's just the only idea I had.

Or... you take your psu, go to your friend, first check if he's got 3 6+2 connectors on his psu. If yes try it, if no try your psu on his desktop.

Could you make a picture psu side (of the connectors) ?

Are you using HDMI  or DP ?
