I want to get a dualshock 4 controller just for pc gaming, i like motion controls and touch controls, i dont care about adaptive triggers and dont know what haptic feedback is, its 7.4 ounces from what i read and its cheaper, the only thing i dislike is micro usb connection. im also thinking about dualsense 5 but it just seems inferior cuz ds4 has everything i need while ds5 looks worse and has some useless for me features except for usb c, but maybe its worth the double the price markup over where im at ? maybe the stick is better, or the motion or touch controls, maybe it has better build quality or shape ? id like an answer to these questions importantly but im also open to suggestions to any other controllers

at that point just build your own $300 one /j

in all seriousness, mUSB is far less of a drawback than you think - just get a USB-A to mUSB lead and charge it - it's not that bad

being an Xbox user though, I would say look into some of the older Xbox controllers - specifically from the One S - no discernible problems, it feels better (more premium - better triggers/buttons) compared to DS4, and you can get charging docks for them so as not to worry about plugging them in when you're done - just put it on the charging dock (it charges wirelessly but the dock needs a connection, can't remember what) and it'll charge overnight/until your next play session

I personally have a PS5, and the controllers are fairly different from PS3/4 controllers. They're bigger and have USB-C. I don't think the adaptive triggers will work with PC gaming, though. It's a nice feature, but I've only really seen it in action in Watch Dogs: Legion, Far Cry 6, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The rest of my library on my PS5 are PS4 games.

(Haptic feedback is just your controller vibrating in response to an action you do, i.e. by blowing yourself up in-game)

Don't tell me to upgrade. I would've done so if I could.

fair enough on the Xbox front, not sure what you mean about wearing out in 3 minutes - get one for $10 from Walmart/similar and it'll do fine

not that I'm aware of - based off personal experience the ds5 feels more upmarket but that's worse for rsi apparently - the sticks are more resistant and it's heavier, the button pressed need more force etc

So yeah, in summary go with ds4 and get a cable from Walmart

You could look into the Flydigi Vader 3 Pro controller. I've owned mine for the past month and it is amazing. Xbox style layout. All buttons are super clicky. 2 additional face buttons, 4 additional rear buttons, and the triggers can be changed to button mode (kind of like going from PS3 to PS2 style). also hall effect joysticks.

It's kind of unanimous on Reddit that the Vader 3 Pro is hands down the best controller. It has gyro support too, but I've never used it, so I cannot tell if you if's good enough to replace PlayStation's gyro. The Vader 4 Pro is also available now, but I didn't want to buy something so new and somewhat unknown.

disagree,  usually breaks/gets wonky after 3-6 months... *especially on DS4 controllers*... almost seems like a feature rather than bug...

personally i have a razer v2 (fav), a ds4 - its ok i use it for fighting games - but usb to pc connection broken since a long time already,  found a work around with and old phone charger (lol) and a brand new (well, for now) Xbox 360 controller,  the GOAT.

Spoiler

(cant really help op tho, cause i never use gyro controls,  sorry)

i think the 8bitdos are pretty good... you have to see which one has the features you want - should be cheaper than DS4 and probably better built quality... personally i would not get a DS4, they're flimsy and break easily (drifting, wonky buttons, micro usb...)
