CPU Upgrade

I was thinking of upgrading from a Ryzen 5 5600G to a Ryzen 9 5900X, I have a B550-F Gaming Wi-Fi Motherboard and everything seems like it's compatible but I wanted to make sure things will work.

I was planning on getting a Noctua NH-D15 140mm Cooler to cool it, but I'm unsure if that would be enough to cool it properly.

Everything should work just fine, pretty sure without even a bios update (you still should update it though), and the NH-D15 is more than enough to cool the CPU

Then a 5800X3D will be better both for performance and value

Get the 5700X3D or 5800X3D if you plan on using the PC mainly for gaming

They are both 8 cores / 16 threaded CPU's with extra cache that games like.

I recommend getting the Peerless Assassin SE120 over the Noctua.  Noctua's are expensive

Where are you buying that a 5700x3d or 5800x3d is more? Also a nhd15 is very overpriced for what it is a thermalright peerless assasin 120 is 35$ and basically just as good.

Idk Amazon shows that the 5600X is $262 and the 5800X3D is $335

Do you have a microcenter near you? If so you can try looking there, but if not you can also check on newegg, not sure about other options as I'm not from the US

After looking around the cheapest I can find one in stock is $315, I'll have to think about it.

Is this still compatible with my Motherboard as well?

Yeah it is, it's worth it imo if you are just going to play games, and want the system to last as long as possible

The 5700X3D and 5800X3D are both compatible with your motherboard   They are Ryzen 5000 parts like the 5900x.

Here is a 8 game average at 1080p with an RTX 3090 Ti.  The 5800X3D pulls quite comfortably ahead of the 5900x.

 

See if you can find a deal on the cheaper 5700X3D, its almost the same performance as the 5800X3D.

The 5700X3D is $209 on pcpartpicker and $199 at Microcenter.

 

It's damn near a 5800X3D at 1080p...
