that's almost the same kit I got and it didn't work with DOCP on 5800X3D either. Go in bios and disable XMP (DOCP)  and set dram frequency to 3200. Go to timings and set primary timings to: 16-16-18-18-38 at dram voltage 1.35V. Everything else can just be auto. If you have any tweaks or overclocks on the cpu, set it to auto. including PBO. (set to auto)

Hi, in having some problems in three games, rocket league, fortnite and modded terraria, rocket league stops for a second every minute or so, fortnite has low 1% but normal high fps, i play in both games on lowest settings except for resolution, terraria is the lesser problem, but still kinda annoying, i play multiplayer with 1 friend, once there are a lot of projectiles the games slows down and sometimes makes my friend crash

CPU: 2600x

cooler:icue h100i elite capellix xt

disk: fortnite on main disk with windows( samsung 970 evo) other games on samsung 980

gpu: 1080 ti (bought used 2 years ago, seller said he repasted it)

mobo: rog gaming b450-f

monitor: 1440p 144hz (asus vg270up)

and a second 1080p 100hz

i bought everything except gpu and the 980 january 2021

any help would be appreciated, thanks

This sounds like it could be a RAM problem with fortnite, how much RAM do you have in your system?

iirc, its a pretty common issue on systems that are rocking 16gb of RAM as for some reason fortnite EATS ram like theres no tomorrow

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX NITRO+

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL32 DDR5

Storage: 2TB SN850X, 1TB SN850 w/ heatsink, 500GB P5 Plus (OS Storage)

Case: 5000D AIRFLOW

Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140

PSU: Corsair RM850e

Case Fans: Fractal Prisma (120 x6, 140 x3) + 2x40mm fans

I have tried running a 1080 ti on a 2700X and wasn't pleased to say the least. I would upgrade to a 5700X3D asap. Just update BIOS on your motherboard and you're off to the races. I was having similar issues in some games and it ran alright after I tweaked my ram. if you run 3200mhz ram, don't expect XMP(DOCP) to work properly on that CPU. You have to set timings and voltage manually.

In fortnite if you disable texture streaming and instead download the texture packs, it might run better.

Yeah, 32GB of RAM for fortnite is the sweet spot, it will run mostly fine on 16gb but will have more noticeable 1% lows.

What does the performance tab of task manager say when running the game, what is being used the most?

Yes correct! Apart from I made a typo, its: 16-18-18-18-38 🙂

could the bios settings resetting have fixed the problems? also while testing rocket league i saw that moving the mouse with a 1000 hz polling rate just stops the game completely

Did you set timings as I mentioned? 16-18-18-18-38. Also remember to set dram voltage to 1.35v if on auto its only 1.2v.

What do you mean, does it lag when mouse is set to 1000hz polling rate and not 500hz?

Timings, voltage and frequency are as you said with docp enabled, i couldnt get the system to boot setting manually, and yes if i use 500hz it doesnt lag, if you want i could test in fortnite too if polling rate changes anything

Wrong answer. DOCP disabled 😂 If it still happens after, then it could be a USB issue with the mouse. If the mouse disconnects and then reconnects. it would cause lag in games

Oh i thought having it on or off wouldnt matter if the settings were the same, i disabled it and if i move it it doesnt stop the game completely but i halves the frames, thats good enought tho, the lagging only happend in games where i played with a controller, thank you! do you still think i should upgrade cpu and ram? if yes should i just go straight to am5 or stay on am4?

DOCP enabled changes other timings and even memory controller voltage and they may not be optimal. Instead setting the rest of the timings on auto leaves the motherboard to decide.

I think you should test with another mouse and yes I think you should get a 5700X3D, because right now you're not getting the most out of your GPU.

is the 5700x3d still ok for a 4070? i was thinking of upgrading to that too, if not would the r5 7600 be good and/or futureproof? Thank you for your time man much love

For the value, i think 5700X3D is good, considering how little extra performance you're getting for a R5 7600 and you'll have to to factor in new motherboard and ram kit. Even if you'll like to get more ram, just get a 2x16gb aegis kit. Its the cheapest and it works. And yes for 4070 its fine. I use a 5800X3D with 7900 XT and its even faster than the 4070 and runs very good. I would however recommend you stick to Nvidia on the GPU side as choosing AMD can be´a bit more tricky in some cases. Personally i would wait for next gen if I were in your shoes. I had a 1080 ti before the 7900XT and I sometimes regret getting rid of it, because it ran great.

Then run with the 5700X3D setup for a few years and go with whatever is available at the time..

Check out this video, that compares 1080ti to 2024 GPU market:
