Ubuntu Refresh Rate

Recently booted up a old pc running Ubuntu. Made sure to update everything. When I tried changing my refresh rate, the only options I got were 60hz and below. I know for a fact my monitor supports up to 120hz. Is Ubuntu limited to 60hz?

Depends on the Graphics Driver youre using.

I was able to run my 1440p Monitor at 165hz, back when I used Ubuntu for some testing with the NVIDIA Driver.

 

What Driver did you install?
Also PC Specs would be useful, maybe the DIsplay Output does not even support more than 60hz.

Yeah what driver are you using? 360Hz worked just fine for me on linux mint. If you are using open source nvidia drivers (noveau), then they never allow you to use the full refresh rate

Is the DP or HDMI cable rated for the resolution and frequency?
