If there is no internet, then there is no way to access the machine from anywhere else….

Why is there no internet? Personally, I have never seen a house with a home network that did not have internet. You are sure there is no internet?

yes, that's the purpose of Tailscale. It's a VPN adjacent tool without the setup hassle that VPN servers have.

Just install Tailscale app on the server and create an account, then you can install it and log in on any other device and get a bridge connection. Tailscale makes the process/setup super easy.

oh, no, my apologies for misunderstanding that part. if the server has no connection to the outside WAN Internet then there's no way to remote to it from an external network.

You'll need to hook the server to the internet in some fashion. if you/they don't want it communicating with the internet then you could set up a vlan on the router (if their router supports it of course) and only allow the tailscale (or VPN/Proxy of choice) to communicate. That's getting in to a bit more complication for the setup though.

No, there is no way of connecting you to your server if it has no internet connection..

What does the jellyfin server connect to? You just have a PC running jellyfin, plugged into a router, plugged into a….. tv? And you add new content to it via transferring data via external drives or usb sticks? I am just curious since not having internet in 2024 while also having a jellyfin server is an extremely strange situation.

But yes, no internet means no access.
