@DaITguy

I have not tried 22.04. I will.

I have a light on this pc that indicates when the system is using the hard drive, it works for USB and actual drives connected to the system, and the light does not turn on when the screen goes black.

The GPU stops outputting to the screen after a few seconds and does not return.

Someone suggested using Ubuntu server 22.04, which did not have the problem I had with Ubuntu server 24.04 LTS, I will keep that in mind when attempting this again.

If 22.04 works, just instal that and do an upgrade to 24.04? If it works, it works. Not worth spending the time to figure out what is causing the issue with installing 24.04 directly.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it" has served me well. Unless you need some new features of which we are not aware of. There also might be similar issues that might be happening to others when installing.

Glad that solved the issue! As to when it happens on 24.04 sounds like a driver issue (to me)…from what you’re describing. But yeah I agree  with the others. If it isn’t broken don’t fix it. I’d recommend sticking with 22.04 since support should last through 4/2027. But if you’re up for the challenge sounds like it would be fun to figure out/a good learning experience!

ps lol take “fun” with a grain of salt.
