Black Screen

Go to solution Solved by silosmith,

Ok it was the PSU I changed it and it has been running with no problems I found a spot where I know it will crash and since I change the PSU it has been stable.

Hi I have not posted here in a long time , I ran into a problem and can't figure it out I keep getting blackscreens when I play battlefield or any other game it just happens more with Battlefiled and the PC will keep running after the blackscreen. I thought it was my PSU I changes it but I am still having the problem went from a 1300W PSU To a 1200W and still have the problem The gpu is a 3090TI Founders just I poped my old gtx 1080ti in and Did not have the problem. And the GPU cable looks fine it is the extenders that came with the card I even moved it around a small bit and it stayed on so it does not look like it could be a short. I Ran a gpuz test and it crashed at Gpu Temp at 76 and Hotspot at 87 I will add the log file here to see IT does feel SUPER  hot to the touch I can't keep my hand on the back plate for more than 2 sec so I am not sure if it is a temp thing. I never did a thermal paste change or pads on this gpu for the first time lol, When I run the gpu fan at 80 % Fan speed is the only time it stays on . Is it me ? that does not seam to be hot enough to cause a black screen or is it ? Any help or ideas will be appreciated.

First idea : did you power that extender cable (I guess it is a Y with a few 6+2 connectors on one end) using one new psu cable for each 6+2 connector ?

Second idea : your temps are ok but maybe there's a thermal pad "malfunctioning" and a secondary chip is overheated

Ohhh ! then it does seem to be a temp problem. I'd get thermal pads of the right thickness(es), thermal paste and then I'd carefully open and check that B...

Hmm I am not really understanding what you mean . I have all 3 modular power supply connectors running to the Triple 8-Pin Power From the 1200W Psu the reason I am still using the 1200 is because I thought it was the Psu at first. So I will have to switch it back.

Usually those psu cables come with each two 6+2pin power connectors. You're supposed to use only one of those two 6+2pin connectors (Although this might be a myth nowadays).

Third idea : do you have sufficient fresh air intake in your case ?

Hey I have a quick question The Problem of the blackscreen is back Could a faulty PCIE slot cause this ? I just realize that the small clip that holds the gpu In the slot the little lock on the edge is the pcie slot is missing. The Reason I was asking  is after I saw that the clip/lock was missing I  made sure is it sitting flush in the slot and I have been running test and it has been solid 2 hars so far no problems.

Could be if the GPU is sagging and slowly falling out of the slot or if the power cables are pulling it out. Loosening the cables and using an anti sag holder might help if that's the case.

But that's rare. The clip on the end of the slot usually serves as a safety feature, it's not mandatory.

But if the clip was pulled by forcefully removing the card, the card might have PCB damage...
