Use Case?

 

For purely gaming, The 7800x3d is the easy choice. After that, it can get muddy based on what you use it for.

You can always wait, the 11 series will be out and much faster than the 9.  /s

 

The 7800X3D is faster than the 9 for pure gaming is epculated, so if you can find the release date of the 9800X3D... then you can determine if waiting is necessary.

 

Since we have no idea what you're upgrading from, either the CPU or full spec... we can't really help.

Both CPUs are very, very good when it comes to gaming. Though, the 7800X3D has a slight lead.

 

But I was a bit surprised when I checked my retailer, and saw the 7950X3D only about ~50% more expensive, for 100% more CPU...

Regardless, if you don't really have any use for the extra cores, and the games you plan on playing don't benefit much from the extra cache, then go for the 7800.
