Do I need to update the BIOS?

It's probably not necessary, though it wouldn't hurt, especially since that BIOS revision looks like it was pulled from MSI's website (that usually indicates there's some sort of issue with it).

If updating the BIOS doesn't help, try manually entering the EXPO parameters to see if that fixes it. Go to the advanced mode, go into the OC tab, scroll down and set the DRAM frequency to 6000MT/s, go into the Advanced Memory Settings menu and set the timings to 32-38-38-76 for tCL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS respectively, then go back to the main OC tab, scroll down and set DRAM Voltage, DRAM VDDQ, and CPU VDDIO to 1.35V. If that doesn't work, also set the SoC voltage to 1.25V and the VPP voltage 1.8V.

I'm scared sh!tless of doing a bios update, not gonna lie. But i'll see tomorrow..

It's really not that scary considering how your board has BIOS flashback, so if anything does go wrong that should be able to reflash the BIOS and fix it. Just try not to do it in a thunderstorm so you don't have to rely on that.

Also quote so we get a notification.

As the title says.

MOBO: MSI PRO B650M-P

RAM: Lexar THOR OC DDR5 2x16GB 6000MT/s CL32.

If I enable EXPO profile 1, i'm getting DRAM debug light and it needs a CMOS reset.

Do I need to update the BIOS?

This means that your RAM is not on QVL list of that motherboard.

Check official MB QVL List ( on their website ) and type the serial number of you're RAM stick, it shouldn't be there, if it is, then you have a board bug which is for RMA.

But im 99% sure this stick is not compatible, which means you will not be able to run it with EXPO or XMP.

It is on the list. I've made sure of that before I even chose the components. It's probably the case of a faulty MOBO. Just my luck.

And shipping back and forth for RMA and testing and whatnot would take at about two weeks from what they told me.

I use the PC for work as well so that's not an option. I'll try to manual OC at some point. It is what it is, I guess.

Then board is for RMA to be honest, it can't have "Unkown readings from QVL"

Firstly do a memtest86 with default settings ( if it passes, it means it is 100% motherboard bug ) if you get even 1 error, then you can safely return RAM and get new sticks.
