Asus Tuf 4080 Super high temp

kosturko92

Hi guys,

Are these temperatures considered high for Asus Tuf 4080 Super ? I still have warranty but im not sure if that will be accepted with those temps ?

This is after 4 hours of gaming in Dragons Dogma 2

Every benchmark i saw on youtube never go past mid 60's and Hot Spot is under 80C

I have a 4090 TUF with the same cooler and I've never seen over 68-70, stock power limit.

Yeah exactly, that is why i think this is way too high for card like this, but Asus says as long as core is below 84C and Hot Spot below 110C, it's within designed temp limit

They're not wrong. Your ambient temps, case and airflow through said case play a big role. I have 3x140mm fans blowing directly on to mine.

bit on the high temperature side IMO, not too bad, could because of the room temperature or poor ventilation case

That seems ok, although when i open the case, Temps are lower. Idk this is first time i see this high temps on Asus Tuf ( i had like 3 before this GPU ). Maybe they pasted poorly in factory

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-geforce-rtx-4080-super-tuf/39.html

Barely above 1500 rpm, and a good bit lower temperatures.

Be sure to check their Test setup, they use a high airflow case and probably a cooled Room with a fixed Temperature.

If you use a Case with 2-3 Fans that's not known to be very well cooled + summer heat + smaller Room that keeps the heat inside, yea 10°C more sound reasonable.

I still think, 2000 rpm on a GPU is just way too much, no matter the model. That would be just too loud for me.

Try Quiet Bios maybe, or try to use RMA while warranty.

It can (!) happen, that your Model specifically was one where the thermalpaste ran out or something else happened.

There you go: https://www.igorslab.de/en/asus-geforce-rtx-4080-tuf-gaming-with-serial-error-built-in-hotspot-ex-works-material-analysis-and-the-rescue/

As coincidence wants it to happen: The Issue Igor checked out happened on just an Asus 4080 TUF also.
(German Youtube Video)

If you know how to disassemble the card, i'd reapply a new thermalpaste probably.

Also, i would undervolt it to maybe 0,950 Volt to keep it as quiet and cool as possible.

Your case looks to have a lot of inteje and not much exhaust.

Getting hot air out is as important as getting cool air in.

Looks like you have a hotbox.
