Gaming Headset for Console and PC

Hi,

Optimal Budget (Including currency) Currency: Danish Kroner Budget: Top 1500kr = $260 and no more.

  • Aim - are you gaming? Skype? General listening? Music production? My use for them is for gaming on my console and pc, Skype and listening to music and videos, i also plan to use these when i leave the house to commute.
  • What style would you like? Closed (completely encase the ear, open (sit on the ear) or buds (go into the ear) The style i want is closed, i want it to encase my ears, not sit on my ears.
  • Jack size/Connection Type - Do you need 3.5mm (1/8") or 6.3mm (1/4") or even USB - Keep in mind adaptors are offered and sometimes included with headphones. What i normally use is the 3.5mm type, for my pc and my phone, i would like a headphone which has interchangeable adapters so it can be used with my ps3. I might even accept bluetooth headphones.
  • Audio taste/genres - Do you want something with an emphasis on bass or something flatter? Hmm, not sure. I listen to different types of music, so im not really sure.
  • Do you plan to use a sound card? Im not sure about a sound card, i don't have one at the moment and im not much of an expert on music quality.
  • Microphone required? Do you want a headset based one or an external one? I want the headset to have a microphone, that i can take off just like the a40 or a microphone that will be hidden in the headphones..

Astro A40s are your answer :)

You even mention them. They sound great and they're really comfy to wear for long periods of time(personal experience). Plus off the bat, it supports the  PC and consoles natively. They'll encase your ears since the cups are so big. They're under 260 as required too.

I would of agreed with Xiao last year, But ever since Skullcandy took over more or less at Astro, The quality of the headsets has gone down drastically..  I have 4 friends who each bought the 2013 pair.  2 have Static & poping ridden broken mics (who both sent them back & the new pair did the same thing), other 2's QD cables caused static in the sound,  Not to mention the mixamp firmware fails to fix any of the audio issues for the 2013s

Comes of as hating, But I've just seen sooooo many bad / broken headsets since skullcandy came into the astro picture.

now.. If you can find an Old boxed pair of Astro 2012's with mixamp.. THAT I would say hell to the yah, grab that.
