i recently upgraded my pc from a gtx 1650 to a rtx 2060 from zotac the card is new and never used

I did use a ddu and all the new drivers are installed and everything works fine with no artifacts

one day I decided to flash the vbios to see if I can  overclock the card for some more performance

I download nvflash and the new vbios from techpowerup I also save the old one just in case

when I use nv flash via command prompt I get this a GPU and board id mismatch error which is weird since I am certain I have used the correct vbios its a zotac rtx 2060 twin fan

when I open gpu-z I see that I have some unknown values on the boost clock mem clock and more ( the GPU is enabled ) I reflash the old vbios on the card and that seems to go away I will attach some images that can be of help

you can see in cmd that NVFLASH is assigning a different board id to my GPU than it actually has the id of the new bios and my one match via gpuz but not in nv flash

I think you forgot to remove write protection. Also whats the goal of flashing this card if it works fine? Does it work normally again after flashing the original Bios?

the thing is why should I have to turn it of its put there for a reason also I'm flashing it because it has the same factory bios from 2019 a lot of games don't support some features such as ray tracing

There is a reason why that card has that bios to begin with. I have shunt modded a 1660S One Click OC and it simply cannot handle even 25w more than stock vBIOS allows. Use the stock bios, if the card is not doing you any good, then simply its not the card for you.

damn okay is there any risk of bricking the GPU if I use a modded nvflash to bypass that protection ( I am using the same vbios just an updated one)

Well those protections were put in place for a reason. Not all bioses are compatible with each card, video output, vrm layout, vram chips, all of it matters.

Alright here is the deal, if you were using an identical bios you would NOT gotten the warning. Updated bios also does not bring anything to the table unless there were specific fixes (like in Maxwell era there was a problem with DisplayPort compatibility and Nvidia forced manufacturers to provide means for users to update their cards). You are not going to get anything better or improve anything with a bios that has an later build date.

nvflash clearly warns you that you are trying to flash a bios that was not made for that specific PCB/board/version.

alright in the screenshot you can see that my device id is 1E89 via gpuz, but in nvflash it says that my device id is 1F08 the same goes for my board id there is no mismatch but nvflash is saying that my card is something that it is not

I am not sure where exactly you are looking at how you are coming to that conclusion but you are interpreting things wrong. You can use the command I used here to compare the currently installed vbios to the vbios you are trying to install.

Well you try flashing a bios put up by someone with another card. Might be the same model, but not the same board id. Write protection is so you can only flash the original Bios with the tools provided by vender. To flash anything else, you must turn off write protection.
