Not enough pins in motherboard for case fan

SwordMaster6752

Hey, I just built my first PC. It works just fine and as expected, but there's one problem. I cannot find a set of pins on my motherboard for one of my case fans. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B760M DS3H AX, and I am using the NZXT H5 Flow RGB case with stock fans; the fan that won't spin is the black fan at the back of the case with no RGB (I think). I looked in the manual for the motherboard, and have not found any solutions for this. I looked for some other pins that I could use on the motherboard, and tried plugging it into the pins on the panel for LED lights, and numerous other pins, but the fan would not spin at all. The fan requires three pins for the holes, and I tried plugging into spots with more than three pins (which was probably not a good idea). I saw on a YouTube video that I should use pin splitters for this, which I will do if neccesary. If this is relevant, my other components are: Vetroo V5 CPU air cooler, Intel i5 12600KF, MSI Dual OC RTX 4060, T-FORCE DELTA 32GB DDR5, Crucial P3 1TB PCIe Gen3 NVMe M.2, and the Thermaltake Smart 500W PSU. Someone please help me with this聽馃槶馃槶馃槶

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

What's the fan plugged into currently?

Do NOT plug things into the wrong ports.聽 The only thing you should plug into RGB is an RGB plug.

You can run up to 1A / 12W of fans off a normal header.聽 So if your fans are under 6W (most are WAY under that) you can run 2 or more off a header jsut fine.

Fan isn't plugged into anything, I literally cannot find a set of pins to work with the fan's requirements

Here's the thing, the fan needs 3 pins not 4, and I tried putting it into the 4 pins for fans but it wouldn't fit聽

Plugged it into the one next to the cpu connector, still doesn't work (but it did move a bit?)

Fan Control Guide: Intel Z270 Motherboard Edition

That 3 pin fan will go above the plastic tab that sticks up.聽 The 4th pin that's not near the tab will be unused.

edit:聽 There's also the possibility that the fan's dead?聽 It's uncommon but far from impossible

It should be a standard fan connector, and the motherboard should be using a standard layout, so any connectors with four pins(PWM) should be able to accommodate fans with three pins. The one pin will simply be unused, but should otherwise work, both in terms of the physical connection, and the electrical connection.
